About

Hey, I'm Ryan - a Toronto-Based street photographer and professional commercial imaging specialist.

I usually go by the artist name Phraction, and am known primarily by my street photography which focuses on capturing the human condition and expressing a time or moment rather than a place. 

My works have been exhibited in the Columbus Musuem of Art in the "Mobile Photo Now” exhibit and in Städtische Galerie in Iserlohn, Germany where I placed in the top 3 of the Observe Collective's "Under Construction" street photography competition.

My work has been shown in various online and print publications and I've been recognized by Instagram as a suggested user multiple times.

In 2014 I released a photographic publication entitled “@Phraction of Toronto: Visual Viewpoints”.

In addition to being a street photographer, I'm also a commercial photo retoucher, with a background as a Photoshop Instructor, and I even have training as a Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist Assistant.

If I had to describe my work, I'd say my images goes beyond typical compositions to push the boundaries within the line of sight while incorporating familiar elements to create a visually pleasing sense of balance. My images are often pared up with captions that range anywhere from social commentary to whimsical wordplay which helps make reading my work as interesting as looking at them.
